Jean Grivot

A family-run domaine in Vosne-Romanée that produces sensual and elegant wines.

Jean Grivot is a prestigious winery from Vosne Romanée that continues to fascinate Burgundy lovers. The magazine ``French Burgundy Producer Guide 100'' has described him as ``the best in terms of wine elegance.'' In addition, Jenny Cho Lee MW, who became Asia's first Master of Wine, was named one of the ``10 Burgundy winemakers with exceptional talent'' in the June 2020 issue of wine evaluation magazine Decanter. The wine industry has received praise from the wine industry, including the selection of the 6th generation Mathilde.

Mr. Etienne's strong feelings reflected in his wines
Jean Grivot is a prestigious domaine in Vosne-Romanée village. We mainly own fields in the villages of Vosne-Romanée and Nuits-Saint-Georges, and more than half of them boast the best terroir of Grand Cru (special-grade fields) and Premier Cru (first-class fields). Etienne Grivot, the current 5th generation head of the family, has only one thought. ``I want to make wine that makes you feel happy.''

In the 1980s, wines maintained a concentrated style with high aging ability, but since the 1990s, they have shifted to a style that maximizes the expression of terroir. In the vineyard, we use the rut raisonné method, and in the winemaking process, we use a short low-temperature maceration period and minimize the use of SO2, allowing us to leave the wine to the natural power of the grapes with as little human intervention as possible. Masu.

As a result, in 2007, Jean Grivot was selected by Clive Coates, a master of wine and well-known critic of Burgundy, to be included in the ``10 Great Burgundies of All Time'' in the wine evaluation magazine Decanter. We have built a solid position, including being selected as a domaine.

This can also be said to be the result of the passion of Mr. Etienne, who is an avid researcher in search of the ideal wine. Since 2010, Etienne's daughter Mathilde and son Hubert have joined the domaine. Since 2020, Mr. Etienne has directed the harvest team in the vineyard, and Mr. Mathilde and Mr. Hubert are mainly in charge of the winemaking, and the entire family is running the domaine while continuing Mr. Etienne's wishes.
