The exterior is shiny and has a dark ruby red color. From the glass, you can feel the aroma of concentrated black fruits such as cassis and blackberry, as well as the nuances of red rose and toast, giving it a complex impression. Smooth on the palate, with silky tannins and plenty of fruit. Lively acidity tightens the structure, and flavors of oak-derived spices such as fresh cassis, licorice, and clove linger on the finish.
Ca' Marcanda (Gaja)
The winery's name, ``Ca' Markanda,'' means ``House of Hopeless Bargaining'' in the Piedmontese dialect. The owner, Mr. Angelo Gaia, tried to negotiate with the owner many times in order to acquire the land, but all attempts were unsuccessful. After 18 rounds of negotiations, they finally received this long-awaited land. During the negotiations, Mr. Angelo Gaia said that his wife often asked him, ``Are you going to Ca Markanda (hopeless negotiation) again?'', so he named the winery ``Ca Markanda.''
