This wine is named RS for Sasa's Rosso (red). It is made mainly from Merlot and Pignolo. Since 2014 (the first vintage) was a lean year for grapes, the maceration of Merlot was shortened and Pignolo, which has a strong astringency, was mixed in to create this wine.
The next vintage after 2014 was 2017, and it has been produced every year since then. Merlot and Pignolo, which are harvested at different times, are harvested separately, fermented and macerated for two weeks, and blended after pressing. They are left in large barrels for 12 months, in stainless steel tanks for several months, and in bottles for several months before being released.
