Single cask Mortlach from iconic bottler Samaroli.
Samaroli is perhaps Italy's most respected independent bottler of Scotch whisky. With an eye for impeccable taste and aesthetics (if not sometimes English spelling!) in single cask whisky, he is considered by many to be a visionary. Many of his bottles now take their rightful place in the great pantheon of whisky.
Coilltean was originally a label conceived by Samaroli to add more diversity to his portfolio after overbuying Glen Garioch casks. By the early 2000s, he was bottling Coilltean using a number of distilleries and now disclosing the name. These are some of the first releases to bear the controversial "Refined..." text on the side of the bottle, which the Scotch Whisky Association frowned upon but Silvano fully believed in.
Distilled in 1988 and bottled in 2006 from sherrywood cask #7777.
