Gaya has greatly contributed to improving the status of Italian wine and is respected by producers all over the world. This wine is a second-label wine made by combining grapes from Conteisa and Supers, the single-field cuvée of Barolo produced by Gaya. A perfect combination of the smooth texture of La Morra and the strength of Serralunga d'Alba. It has a firm structure with strong fruit flavors and elegant tannins.

Emperor Gaya reigns as the top of the Italian wine world
The winery's name, ``Ca' Markanda,'' means ``House of Hopeless Bargaining'' in the Piedmontese dialect. The owner, Mr. Angelo Gaia, tried to negotiate with the owner many times in order to acquire the land, but all attempts were unsuccessful. After 18 rounds of negotiations, they finally received this long-awaited land. During the negotiations, Mr. Angelo Gaia said that his wife often asked him, ``Are you going to Ca Markanda (hopeless negotiation) again?'', so he named the winery ``Ca Markanda.''
