Kistler Vineyards is a ``California treasure'' that has been said to surpass Burgundy's Grand Crus. Although they are known as Chardonnay specialists, they also produce outstanding wines from Pinot Noir.

This is one of the most standard cuvées among Kistler's red wines. We use Pinot Noir clone grapes transplanted from the Grand Crus of Burgundy.

A powerful Pinot Noir with a sophisticated yet rich fruit flavor and earthy nuances.

KISTLER Vineyards

A pioneer of Burgundy style, a California treasure

Kistler Vineyards is a maker hailed as a ``California Chardonnay legend.'' It is an exceptional winery that is highly trusted by famous wine critics such as Robert Parker, and the wine it produces has been ranked 6th in Wine Spectator's Top 100 Wines 2020.

Pioneer of Burgundy style in California
Kistler Vineyards is a winery founded in California's Russian River Valley in 1978 by a family led by Steve Kistler, who is known as the ``California Chardonnay Legend.''

At the time of Kistler's establishment, modern stainless steel tanks were the mainstream for brewing in California, but Mr. Kistler carried out alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in French oak. At that time, it is characterized by the fact that it was the first in California to establish winemaking similar to Burgundy, using wild yeast and aging in barrels without fining or filtering. Currently, we are releasing wine from our own vineyards in more than 10 locations, named after the vineyards in the style of Burgundy.

Traditionally, Kistler wines have been known for their concentrated and powerful style, but in recent years, in order to better express the terroir, they have focused on the original flavor of the grapes by harvesting earlier and emphasizing acidity. Shift to structure. Based on refined minerality and acidity, the wine has an outstanding balance of finesse and elegance.

In addition, Bill Price, who owns the cult wines ``Costa Brown'' and ``Gap's Crown,'' which have become famous in recent years, has been appointed as the new owner, and the winery will be operated under a new system. Mr. Kistler then announced his retirement from Kistler Vineyards at the end of 2017 to focus full-time on Occidental, his family-run winery specializing in Pinot Noir.

Currently, his beloved disciple Jason Kessner, who has been making wine with him for over 20 years, is in charge of cultivation and brewing. He continues to make wine, inheriting the finesse Kistler style built by Mr. Kistler, which is characterized by concentrated fruit flavors and fresh acidity.
