Jean-Marie Fourier, the owner of the prestigious Domaine Fourier in Gevrey-Chambertin, acquired 7.5 hectares of vineyards from Domaine Comtes de Chapelle and will be producing this new wine starting in 2022. Jean-Marie Fourier personally cultivates, vinifies, and bottles this Vignes Comtes de Chapelle, following the same winemaking philosophy as Domaine Fourier, minimizing intervention and crafting wines that reflect the terroir.
This wine is made from Chardonnay vines planted in 1961. The grapes are from the Rue Rousseau plot, and up to 20% of the oak is new. It is bottled unfiltered.
Delicate aromas of hawthorn and lemongrass are apparent, while the palate reveals flavours of marzipan, flint and delicate jasmine, creating a sophisticated wine of exceptional harmony and nuance.
