If you ask, "Which indigenous red grape variety of Friuli has the dignity to rival Nebbiolo and Sangiovese?" I think that not only Radicon but many winemakers would answer Pignolo. Pignolo means "to pay attention to small things" or "troublesome, troublesome", and as the name suggests, it is difficult to cultivate, and it is a terribly tannic variety that requires a huge amount of time to achieve balance. Because it is an IGT, the grape variety cannot be listed on the label, so the plural of Pignolo is Pignoli, which I think conveys the meaning that not only the grapes but also the winemakers themselves are troublesome.
