Bowmore, the "Queen of Islay," was founded in 1779. Located in the heart of the island of Islay off the west coast of Scotland, the Bowmore distillery is well known for its peat and malting processes, which are influenced by the sea breeze. Furthermore, its first warehouse faces the sea directly, at sea level.
This "Devil's Cask" is an ambitious work composed of raw spirits aged in 1st Fill Oloroso Sherry and Pedro Ximnez Sherry casks, and the second release was bottled in 2014 with a 10-year ageing statement.
This was a popular series that combined the sweet aroma of dried fruit from sherry casks with Bowmore's house style.
