Robert Groffier

Largest owner of 1st class vineyard Les Amelouzes

Robert Groffier is the largest owner of Chambolle-Musigny's premier cru, Les Ameluses. The domaine is a rare domaine based in Moret-Saint-Denis and known as a producer of Chambolle-Musigny. We own a total of 8 hectares of impressive vineyards, including 1 hectare in Bonne Mare, 0.5 hectares in Chambertin Clos de Bèze, and 1 hectare in Chambolle-Musigny-Les Ameluses.

The Groffier family's winemaking began in the 1930s, when Mr. Robert's father, Jules, owned excellent fields such as Les Ameluses and the special field Bonne Mare and sold them to negociants.

Mr. Robert, who inherited the vineyard, had the personality of an honest vigneron who was satisfied as long as he was growing grapes in the field, but his wife, Georgette, encouraged him to refinance the domaine, and from 1973 they started managing the domaine themselves. Started bottling. Under her direction, the domaine was transformed into an elegant domaine equipped with brewing equipment, state-of-the-art computers and a tasting room, producing a variety of wonderful wines.

The wine has been praised by Mr. Robert Parker as ``Every wine from AC Burgundy to Grand Cru is the best wine that expresses the terroir well'', and now Chambord is prized along with Roumier and Voguer. It has risen to become one of Musigny's top domaines. Robert is currently retired from winemaking. His son Serge is the head of the family, and his grandson Nicolas, who studied at a brewing school in Beaune, is in charge of cultivation and brewing.
