Scrio・Macchiole・2019

Le Macchiole's Scrio 2019 benefits from reductive winemaking aimed at capturing the natural aromas and elegance of this versatile grape. Fermented in stainless steel and cement tanks, some of the wine is aged in tonneaux, where oxidation is more likely. The remainder is placed in cement tanks and ceramic vessels. With Le Macchiole, you won't get an over-extracted, lean Syrah. Instead, you'll get a refined, highly elegant wine with a taut (slim but lean) mouthfeel and beautifully integrated tannins. Incidentally, Cinzia Merli recommends tasting the three IGT wines in the following order: Paleo, Scrio, and Messorio.
