Francois Feuillet

Burgundy enthusiast who blossomed young talent

François Fuet is a winery located in the village of Chevannes, Hautes-Côtes-de-Nuits. The owner of the domaine is Francois Fuet, chairman of TRIGANO, a company that manufactures and sells outdoor goods such as campers and tents. He is one of the richest people in France, ranking among the 200 richest people in France, and is known as an enthusiastic Burgundy wine lover.

The history of the domaine dates back to 1991, when Mr. François loved Burgundy wine so much that he purchased 1.2 ha of the Hautray field in the village of Nuits-Saint-Georges. At that time, there is an anecdote that he received advice from Mr. Henri Jayet, who is said to be the god of Burgundy, and his passion and commitment to winemaking was not something to be taken lightly.

While looking for a winemaker to make wine from the fields he had purchased, Francois met a young man. That person is David Duvan, the son of the Duvan family who was a member of the producers' cooperative at the time. Until then, the Duvin family had not made wine and only sold the harvested grapes to the cooperative, but Mr. David had a passion for winemaking and was eager to learn about winemaking while working.

When David Duvin officially debuts as a winemaker, Francois decides to entrust everything from grape cultivation to brewing to David. At first, Mr. David's goal was to ``make drinkable wine,'' but he steadily acquired techniques and adopted techniques such as switching to organic cultivation, eliminating low-temperature maceration, and introducing whole-bunch fermentation. He demonstrated his ability to the fullest.

As a result, in 2016, David Duvin received the highest rating in the French guidebook ``La Revue de Vins de France'' along with DRC, Leroy, Georges Roumier, and others. Thanks to Francois Fuet's foresight, the talent of David Duvin, who was still unknown at the time, blossomed and he rose to become a superstar in Burgundy.
