Although it is somewhat young, it is a well-crafted single malt that is dominated by the spicy and citrusy notes derived from the Mizunara oak barrels, with the distinctive malt and peat flavors of Akkeshi malt in the background.
Since no information has been released, I will analyze the specs based on my impressions. The phenol level is around 30 ppm, the ageing period is around four years, and the key malt, judging from its distinctive Japanese citrus aroma, is likely to be unpasteurized in Hokkaido Mizunara oak barrels. The estimated proportions are 70% Mizunara oak, 10-20% bourbon casks, and the rest sherry and wine casks as a subtle flavor.
When made into a highball, the spiciness is toned down and the sweetness from the malt and casks comes to the fore, making it very easy to drink. This is a bottle that really highlights the quality of Akkeshi sake.
