ANNE ET HERVE SIGAUT
Chambord Musigny is a historic winemaker that has been making wine since around 1850.
Anne et Hervé Cigaud is a historic domaine located on the outskirts of the village of Chambord-Musigny and has been making wine since around 1850. We are a traditional Burgundy maker that maintains a family business and still uses the same cellar that was built at the time of our founding.
Although almost unknown in Japan, the domaine has been attracting attention overseas since 1996. We create fragrant wines that are typical of Chambolle-Musigny and worthy of being called "authentic Burgundy." Although it does not have a Grand Cru and only produces Premier Crus such as Chambolle Musigny, Morey Saint-Denis, and Murana Cru, it can be said that they are all bargain brands that can be obtained at relatively affordable prices.
In the past, the manufacturing method prioritized quantity over quality, but since 1992, the current head of the company has brought about major changes. In order to improve the quality of the fruit itself, we stop using pesticides and revitalize the soil without using chemical fertilizers. Furthermore, we carried out thorough reforms such as limiting the amount of harvest through green harvesting. In order to take advantage of the delicacy, finesse and elegance of Chambolle-Musigny's terroir, new barrels are used very carefully and the wine is bottled without filtration.
Generally speaking, it is said that it takes about 15 years for the soil to become healthy due to the influence of natural methods such as biodynamics, but in fact, they have drastically changed their methods since 1992, improving the taste of wine. began to change markedly around 2000.
In particular, the 1999 Chambord Musigny Les Sentiers achieved the remarkable feat of receiving 90 points from Wine Enthusiast magazine. In recent vintages, several cuvées have received over 90 points from Wine Advocate magazine. We are proud of the high quality of our products, which is now highly acclaimed internationally.
