Approximately 40 years old. Adjacent to Vosne-Romanée, Damode is the highest of the Nuits-Saint-Georges premiers, and its soils with fine gravel topsoil produce delicate and elegant wines. Smooth fruit with a firm acid structure. The sweet and sour fruit that runs through the palate lingers on the finish.

RICHARD MENIERE

The Echezeaux plot is sandwiched between fields owned by the DRC.

Domaine Manière is a historic winery that has been located in the heart of the village of Vosne-Romanée since 1795. The current owner, Richard Manieres, is the fifth generation. The previous generation produced wine under the name Manier Noirot, and received a 4-star rating from Robert Parker, who said, ``We produce concentrated, rich Burgundy with the ability to age.'' Incidentally, Noirot was from Richard's maternal side, and this family was one of the largest landowners in Vosne-Romanée. The 10ha farmland is centered around Vosne-Romanée, the home base, and extends from Nuits-Saint-Georges in the south to Fissant in the north, with many fields of old vines. The lineup is wonderful, including the grand cru Echezeaux, Les Suchots, one of Vosne Romanée's premier cru, and the premier cru representing Nuits-Saint-Georges, Haut Boudot and Les Damodes, which have been passed down from generation to generation. . In particular, Echezeaux, which was acquired by the previous generation, boasts a perfect location, almost in the center of Les Poulaiers, which is considered the best section of this appellation. Because it is flanked on both sides by plots owned by Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, it is said that the company approaches the domaine to exchange fields every five years, but the plots that Romanée-Conti approaches are Although the area is large, it is located at the northern end of Les Poulayères and is an inferior field, so they do not intend to comply with the request.

A perfect field described as a garden
Although it has a reputation as an excellent vineyard, it has remained unknown until now because most of its wine was sold in bulk to negociants, and there were very few wines bearing the domaine's name on the market. . However, a wine merchant from Burgundy was impressed by the quality and persuaded Richard, ``We should definitely save money and release wine under the domaine name.'' Although the number of wine bottles has finally increased, 90% of them are consumed within France, so opportunities to encounter his wines outside of the country are extremely rare. Richard, who silently works in the fields, is a true vigneron who is ``born in the fields and dies in the fields.'' No herbicides or insecticides are used in the cultivation of Rutte Raisonné. His vineyards are so perfect that winemakers in the village describe them as ``not vineyards, but gardens.'' Vinification takes place in an old cellar in the heart of the village of Vosne-Romanée. After harvest, maceration is performed and alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks. All wines are aged for long periods in barriques. His wines, created through meticulous field work and traditional winemaking, directly convey the quality of the vineyard. It is a wine with a classic flavor and good background that is valuable in modern Burgundy.
