Bachelet Mono is a new domaine founded in 2005 by brothers who were still in their 20s, but it is already starting to become a popular domaine that is attracting attention from all over the world. Although they did not have a track record when they were first established, they worked hard together with rising stars such as their friends Vincent Dancerre and Olivier Lamy, and steadily climbed the path to stardom.

All of the wines they make are wonderful, especially the white wines, which have beautiful acidity and rich fruit, and can be called the "royal road to high-class Burgundy." Red has a velvety smooth and neat structure. I think the quality of their wines is also supported by their interaction with Arnaud Morte and Charles Van Canet.

Brewing is done very anaerobically. This is to avoid premox. This is common among star producers in recent years, and is probably the result of having seen many Premox wines from the 1990s.

The Bachelet brothers have received glowing praise not only from local media such as Bourgogne Aujourd'hui and Ruvue de Vins de France, but also from international wine media such as International Wine Cellar.
The brothers, who were once called "new makers who will inherit the future," are still pursuing high quality!

Bachelet Monnot

A new creator who will inherit the future

It was started in 2005 by brothers Marc and Alexandre who rebuilt their grandfather and father's domaine. Although the domaine is based in Maranges, it has a very strong lineup of white wines from the Côte de Beaune, including Puligny-Montrachet, Chassagne-Montrachet, and Meursault. They first built a building behind their house to carry out everything from fermentation to aging. At that location, the wine is aged in barrels for a year and then left in contact with the lees for about six months in a tank.

Also, they usually allow the lees to be stirred until the malolactic fermentation is finished. It sometimes lasts for 1-2 months. The ratio of new barrels is modest, with around 50% new barrels used for Premier Cru and more for Batard and Bienvenue. By using soft, lightly toasted barrels, we avoid giving the wine an excessively roasted aroma.

The brothers attracted attention from the French media with their mellow and rich debut vintage in 2005. Looking at the evaluations over the past few years, they have shown steady improvement, and it can be said that this is a maker that we should keep an eye on in the future.
