70 year old vines, granite soil. Cooled grapes, whole bunches, carbonic maceration for 10 days.
Aged for 4 months in 500L demi-muids.
If you drank it blind you would think it was white, with a gorgeous aroma like muscat or lychee. The flavor of the 70-year-old vines slowly comes through from the back, and the aftertaste has a hint of black tea!
Cinsault is a mass-produced variety that is often blended as a secondary variety in the south of France. It is expressive from an early stage due to the granite, and fully expresses the terroir of the Albert Mountains. It is easy to drink, but there is more to Fleur Rouge!
The name of the cuvée, "Le Fond de l'air est rouge," comes from the title of a 1977 French film. Literally, it means "The air is dyed red" or "Red is floating in the air."
The theme is red, which can be seen as the color of pacifism, anarchism and revolution.
And the color of wine. Jean-François' philosophy is pacifism and anti-system, which is close to the ideas of this film, hence the name.
